“Blindfold” is the official music video for US CHH (Christian Hip-Hop) artist Brinson, a song about trusting God when you can’t see the next step. The video was shot in black and white across London, and was filmed, directed and edited by me under the name Director Tryumf.
The concept: American Man in London
The visual idea was inspired by Sting’s “Englishman in New York“, a portrait of an outsider walking through a city that isn’t his own. I wanted to flip that story around: an American man in London. That theme sits naturally alongside the song’s message. Walking through an unfamiliar place without knowing where it leads is the same posture as walking by faith, not by sight.
Shooting in black and white follows Sting’s “Englishman” music video, strips the city down to shape, light and shadow, and captures the emotion of the song. The music video moves through some of London’s most recognisable landmarks, including Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Big Ben and Parliament Square, with scenes filmed right beside the Houses of Parliament.
About the song
“Blindfold” is about the moments when the path ahead is hidden and all you can do is trust. The title is the whole idea: moving forward without sight, relying on faith to lead the way.
